Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Gets a Release Date
The biggest single confirmation of the show: Final Fantasy 7 Revelation now has an official release date of April 2027. The show also gave fans a first look at the live-action Resident Evil movie and previewed a stacked slate of games being developed by Asian studios, a category Sony has been leaning into more heavily in recent showcases.
Double Fine Jumps to PlayStation
In one of the more surprising turns of the show, Double Fine — no longer an Xbox first-party studio — is bringing its games to PlayStation, starting with Keeper, an adventure game starring a sentient, mobile lighthouse on a mission of discovery. Keeper is available starting immediately on PS5, marking a notable crack in Xbox’s exclusivity wall from a studio it acquired back in 2019.
Konami Brought Two Very Different Games
Konami used the show to reveal Rev. Noir, an anime-inspired RPG following a young boy named Asch on a mission to stop a catastrophe called the lightfall, alongside a story trailer. The publisher also showed off Rhapsody in Scarlet, a jazzy adventure set in 1920s New York starring young magus Ellie Myers, who must stop a threat to the entire world. The pairing gives Konami two genuinely distinct new IPs in very different tones within the same showcase.
What Was Notably Missing
Two of Sony’s most anticipated upcoming exclusives, God of War Ragnarok follow-up God of War Laufey and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, did not get new trailers this time around — a reminder that a State of Play doesn’t need to cover every major upcoming title to still feel substantial, and that Sony is likely saving fresh looks at those games for a future, dedicated showcase.
